JVC Everio GZ-MG21U - Brightness adjustment

   I have a JVC  Everio GZ-MG21U and am trying to find a way to adjust the brightness when shooting indoors.  The recorded image is always darker than the room was.  When shooting out doors, the image is always fine no overexposure at all.  but inside its always dark.  I've tried increasing the brightness manually - selecting manual and adjusting the brightness up to +6 with no change.  I've even tried adjusting the backlight compensation with no change to the image.  None of the changes makes a difference on the viewscreen at all.  any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.  thanks in advance.
