Infrared? Works w/ ANY?

    I got, well going to get a  consumer miniDV camcorder (panasonic pv-gs80), and I was wondering if I could get the SIMA Infrared Light. Does Infrared work with any camcorder, and am I going to be able to see during complete darkness like around 7ft in front of me...????????
