My computer is great in everything but graphics. I've got a great processor and a gig of RAM, but integrated graphics. And this really slows down when editing. Would it be worth the money to get a PCI-Express graphics card? The downside is that the only PCI-E slot that my computer has is 1X.

    here's the specs:

    Dell Dimension E310

Pentium 4 HT 3.06 GHz, bus speed 533 MHz

1 GB RAM, memory channel mode: Dual Interleaved, DDR2 SDRAM

Integrated graphics: Intel graphics media accelerator 900

windows xp media center edition SP2

    one 1X PCI-E slot available

Sure, go for it. I'd first check out Nvidia and ATI websites and sites that do comparisons and see what is the fastest card you can get for your motherboard. You may also want to checkout the videoguys.com site and see what recommendations they have.

Check your mobo manual to see if you need to do a jumper setting change or bios setting in order to switch off the integrated video.

A good video card should help with live rendering for your preview monitor, if nothing else.
