General warning about firewire transfers

   I recently found, by an unfortunate accident, that the "D" shaped end of a firewire cable can sometimes be inserted the wrong way round into a PC if you are not careful. If this happens and then you connect it to your camcorder it "fries" the i-link board on the camcorder! It did this to my VX 2100E and I had to send it in for repair, which can be costly. I now use a different socket on my PC which does not accept insertion the wrong way round, and have covered over the other socket with tape. Apparently this accident is not uncommon. :(
