Okay now that I got your attention, I was wondering if you could get stock video, say it is autumn and you need video of a Rose in spring, what are you going to do? Stock video of course, but we all know that royalty free stock video costs $$$. But what if it did not cost you any money, instead you can share your own stock video and in turn people share theirs, and among it is a shot of a rose. Does that sound good to you?

A while back I set up a system for free stock video, but I never really got it off the ground. But I was wondering since the system is more or less in place would you guys be interested in participating in such a program? I know that personally I might have access to a plane, and maybe even a helecopter for free. I could film fly overs of all sorts of things, but someone in South Dakota may not have such access but what they do have is easy access to film Mt Rushmore. We can share the stock video and bang each of us can get what we want and need. So if you are intersted in getting free stock video, both cost and royalty free, let me know. and if you have any questions please ask me. I would like to get this off the ground, but I need to know the demand. So lets hear it, just a raise of hands.

The only problem is once the video was on the site, and since it would be royalty free, someone else out there would probably download all of the videos and start their own site.

There'd have to be some sort of "trade" system involved, say you could download one video for every two you uploaded or something. Or perhaps a credit system where you would get "credits" for every video you uploaded and in turn would use those credits to download videos.

It would have a ranking system, I want free to mean free, but it is also legally bound. Someone cannot downlaod and start their own site, they can however download make a movie and put the movie on their own site, but honestly I don;t care I want the to be freeely available video for people. So I would probably add a ranking system and some other things. But as I said I am still intersted in getrting some numers on the interest level.

I would like to think of this as being a public service. But I only have legal things implemented to protect myself.

I tried suggesting this about a year ago but got no really interested parties.

For legal reasons you might be better off just starting out a trading/bartering clearinghouse - Allowing those who have video (and rights to the same) to find others who may want what they have in exchage for the other parties work. You could get really fancy allowing for three, four or more way trades

While I applaud this effort let me throw out a suggestion.

We can go out and shoot all kinds of footage but it might not be what anyone needs; what if someone out there in say New York needs a specific shot of a certain length contacts your site and lets all know what it is. Then someone says 'Hey I'm going to be there so I can shoot that for you.'

Then that person says 'I need a shot of the statue of liberty can someone get that for me.'

Then we can all win because we have created a network to find just what we need for that big film we are shooting.
