Exporting as a filmstrip file is for editing in photo, effect, or animation software.

A filmstrip file can be exported from Premiere, opened in Photoshop and edited, then imported back into Premiere.

This is the way that most light saber scenes have been done in the past, it is called Rotoscoping.

Every frame is exported and needs to be edited.  NTSC 30 frames per second means that to rotoscope a 30 second light saber scene means editing 900 frames in Photoshop.

Everything you wanted to know about Premiere Elements
