FCP4 and Mac1394 Port

   Do I need anything besides a standard Mac firewire port, external hard drive, and FCP4 for major video editing. I know there are some addons like capture bays and compressors...do I need any of this?

   no you are good your hard drive should be 80 + gb but just connect your deck to the firewire and set your scrach disks to you external hard drive and you are ready to rock and roll.

   Go for a 7200 rpm external drive that would connect either firewire or usb2.
