    Dear Forum,
I am shopping for a fairly priced camcorder with which I can input high quality digital video into my computer.

Question #1: are there any camcorders less than $1000 that have a manual focus option? if so, what are they?

Question #2: is Mini-DV the best format for digital video these days?

Question #3: any recommendations for a good camera. please include drawbacks as well as advantages.

    Thank you in advance!

Hi Devon. With a price point in mind you might try sites like camcorderinfo.com and about.com, both of whom rate camcorders by price. The first one almost always has the first reviews of new models as well. My hobbyist site has a page on selecting a camcorder, with links to these and other similar sites, and some advice on what to care about.
