I'm working on a job for a minor leage baseball team and I need footage burned to Dvd on my hard drive so I can add scenes from the Dvd to the production (the Dvd is not encripted). How can I add / move files to my hard drive so I can work with the files? Is there a way to copy the footage to my hard drive so I can take highlights of the Dvd? I was given the footage from a local cable company to add to the production. I'm not breaking copyright laws.
I work in avid Liquid as my editing program if this helps.
    Thanks

If you use the Search feature of these forums for the keyword "VOB", you'll find dozens of previous posts regarding this topic. Basically, your VOB files (on the DVD) are mpeg2s. You can rename the filename extension and load them up. But beware of any action (even accidental) to re-encode these frames. You'll lose quality in buckets - especially where movement is concerned.

One way to extract particular scenes from a VOB file is with a program like Cinematize.

Good luck, and enjoy the off-season!

I use Smart Ripper and VOB edit. They are both freeware. Smart ripper can extract the VOB and VOB edit can demux it.
