Editing system for vegas in HD

   Ive had vegas 7 for a while and had been editing SD videos on my laptop that has an intel core duo cpu with 1.6 ghz, 1 gig ram, and I have a couple larger external hard drives for storing files. So i've been wondering if its possible to edit hd on this machine or if theres no way it can cut it because I know the recommended specs are quite a bit higher
