I edited a biking video and compressed it using Adobe Encore, and ive had a few problems, any scenes where titles show up suddenly on top of a black screen there is a little ghosting, like you can see a silhouette of it seconds before its supposed to pop up. Also, some times when going quickly between clips it glitches... I'm thinking that the problem is the encoder in encore? I've done dvds before with Ulead and had no problems this was my first project with encore, i really liked the interface of the program but the results suck. Is there a program out there that I could use to encode the files and then import them into encore?

any ideas would be great. thanks.

...also, these DVDs that I have authored with encore so far will play in most DVD players although weirdly some players wont play them but WILL play other burned DVDs... im very confused.

I'd recommend encoding at a higher bitrate. The 7Mbps presets in Encore DVD generally work pretty well. I made my own preset for encoding our own Videomaker DVD projects, which uses 6Mbps 2-pass VBR and PCM audio. I've had good results with that.
As far as compatibility goes, burning the perfect DVD is still more like alchemy than anything else. The problem usually lies with players that have older firmware. (And in my experience, DVD-R vs. DVD+R usually doesn't matter very much, either.)
