DV953 and slow zoom

   I think this is common to Panasonic cams. There is a variable zoom control on the cam--slight push and you get a slow zoom...push farther and the zoom speeds up. That's all fine. With the remotes, however, there is one zoom speed only--kind of in the mid range speed.
   
   Has anyone been able to get a slow zoom without touching the camera? This machine doesn't support LANC, and I know that's better already, but I can't afford to buy a new camcorder. This would be, I imagine, either a clever wiring/soldering job, or perhaps a firmware hack--if that's even possible with this device.
