If results are what's important, don't worry. The picture is the usual Sony superb, broadcast quality, even though it uses 'prosumer' 1/3" CCDs. This camera seems to fit somewhere between the 'prosumer' and truly 'pro' worlds. It includes 'steady-shot', auto focus and a flip-out LCD screen like 'prosumer' cameras. It doesn't have a removable lens like the 'pro'camcorders. But, it is shoulder mounted like 'pro' cameras. It uses the large 'pro' DVCAM tapes as well as the 'prosumer' mini-DV tapes. It cost about the same as a Canon XL-1, which has removable lenses, but is awkward to use compared to the DSR-250. From a 'impress the client' point of view, it looks big and professional. Considering what you could end up spending on the so-called 'professional' camcorders and their expensive lenses, I'd say it is definitely a 'cost effective' business solution for general purpose videography. Don't go on safari with it, you'd have to get too close to the lions :)
