Download Video from Canon ZR85 camcorder

    I have canan ZR85 handycam which has a miniDV casette. I dont have the suitable cable to download the movie from the casette. With the cable which came with the handycam I able to download only the pictures. could anyone please help me in buying a suitable cable to download the video.

    You'll find your answer on page 91 of your user manual.

    If you don't have a manual, go to Canon's online support page and download one (like I just did).

    What you need is a 1394 Firewire cable, readily available at your local computer store; Best Buy; CompUSA; Fryes Electronics and New Egg - most of these will also have convenient online ordering.

    If your computer does not already have a firewire connector, you'll need to buy a card for it that does. Bring your camcorder and a photo of your computer's connections if you're unsure.

    These cables come 4pin to 4pin and 6pin to 4pin. The latter is what your camcorder takes.
