For my video production class in school we were assigned a project to make a documentary about any topic. I've had some ideas but I was just wondering if anyone had a topic they always found interesting that would make for a good documentary. I want to do something that has some sort of undercover or investigation involved in it, any thoughts?

Ummm... THis doesn involve investigating, but..... I've always wanted to make a Documentary entitled: PC or Mac? A question of the Ages. BEcause, of course thats the big question, not only in Video Editing, but in General PC uses like Gaming, Word Proccesing, Internet Use and stuff. We use Macs in Video Editing Class at school, but in Computer Tech we use dells. So Im gonna ask everyone I know to say which they like better for what things and why.

Don't attempt anything beyond your abilities and resources. Pick a local issue. Just look in your community newspaper and read editorials and readers'letters to the editor or whatever. There have to be a number of controversial subjects going on. Pick one.

I'm also presuming you are working with a team of fellow students as seldom is such a project given to each student individually. Make sure at least some of them are as keen on doing this as you are or you won't have much cooperation. Once you decide, delegate responsibilities or you'll end up doing the whole thing yourself.

I have to agree with the local aspect. Take a subject that makes the local headlines. If it's recent news many people will have an opinion on the subject thus making it easier to get many different opinions to cover your subject. On the other hand, if the subject is somewhat too sensitive to the local population you may have difficulty getting people involved.

The most important is to have fun doing it and choose a subject you feel comfortable with.

    Have fun
