Do these forums seem S-L-O-W lately?

I just wanted to see if I'm the only one having this problem - the forums have been so slow (at least at my end) lately that I don't have the time or patience to spend time here like I used to.

I don't have this problem on other forums I'm on or on websites I do development on.

Do you agree that these forums are running slow?

i have to agree. Ever since Videomaker changed its forum, it has taken longer to load. For me, not too much longer, but still - a delay

Look at the ads running- they are hogs. Even my DSL is loading them slower. Not real slow, just a noticeable lag.

    Hank,

You can sure say that again!

It is so frustrating that I am actually discouraged from even hanging around anymore.

I've been looking into this for the past few weeks. I cannot come up with a combination of factors to make the page load slowly.

Here are my not quite scientific results (I'm just counting one one thousand, two one thousand, etc.) These tests were done after viewing the homepage, without clearing the browser's cache.

BTW, our web server is located in St. Luis, it's not on our LAN.

    From inside our Chico, CA office over a 1.5Mb/s T1 using a P4 2.8GHz HT w/ 1GB of RAM.

      Firefox 2 -- 3 seconds
      IE7 -- 4-5 seconds

Chico, CA office T1 using a fast Mac.

      Firefox 2 -- 4 seconds
      Safari -- 5 seconds

I get close to the same results from home over DSL, with a slightly greater time for IE6.

So far I've only heard reports of slowness from the four people posting in this topic.

If you don't mind, please post some specs:
      CPU
      RAM
      Web Browser
Time to load a forum page
Connection speed (DSL, T1, Cable, Dial-up)

Please consider this an invitation for everyone to post their experience. The more information we get, the more likely this problem can be remedied.

    Thanks,

    -Andy

    Here's my specs:

4-5 seconds to load the Videomaker Forums page.

5-6 seconds to load a specific category: for example, Forums Main page to General Questions.

    IE7

    Dell P4 1.59 Ghz processor.

    384 MB RAM.

    DSL

    hope this helps

    3.5 seconds
DVDShop/dual Pentium(R) 3.2 GHz/Dual 160 gig drives/2 gig memory. DVDShop is made by Applied Magic. The chassis is by Cooler Master and is based on their home theater design. It's really fast.
