I read Charles Fulton's article on the Dell Dimension XPS as a Turnkey Editing Computer and I am looking to buy one. I have 3 questions: 1) Will I be able to transfer VHS video tape by way of a vcr to the computer and then make a DVD? 2)Dell is offering Microsoft's Media Edition 2005 as a choice for the operating system on the XPS. Would that be a good purchase? 3) what video card would be good: the ati radeon 9800 or ati radeon 9300(cheaper) or ati all-in-wonder card(not available yet but will be soon)
Any other thoughts you might have to help me with my purchase would be appreciated - thanks larry

That system is very nice..use to use one at work..We had PP 1.5 on it..very good...But I would recomend building you own..and then adding the Conoups DV Storm Card ... you will rid that alot more usfull because it has composit in and S Video in...if you did buy the dell you would have to buy the All in wonder card because it is the only card with annaloge capture for you VHS tapes ... if u can do it have it costum built you can get the same system built at a local place for less then that I would take the specs of that system to some one...and get a price befor you buy...but check out the DVstorm card .. good stuff ..real time and all.
E-mail me with any more quesitons
