Copy Guard Signal

   I have a Sony TRV Camcorder. After recording a Hi8 tape and editing it onto a VHS tape, I am trying to convert my NTSC signal to PAL on my Samsung 5000W Worldwide multi-system VCR. When I try to convert, I get a message 'Copy Guard Signal' on my TV screen. Although my NTSC copy is fine, the converted PAL copy goes from normal to dark at certain spots. What I think is happening is that the Samsung VCR is identifying my video tape as a commercial-type recording and 'kicking in' the copy guard. What can I do about this?
