ive been producing and editing video for about three years now in school, but now ive graduated. i am now without the use of the schools studio, and am buying my own computer for editing. i need to know what the system requirements are for running a solid editing machine. im willing to put some money into it, and the computer will be stricly for editing. i have plenty of help from the technical side, as my roommate works in a computer store, but i need some advice from the veteran editors side. thanks

We've got a great page on our website for system recommendations for NLE. http://www.videoguys.com/system.htm

I think you will find it quite useful and informative.

I used to edit videos on my old dell p3 450 mhz computer which ran under windows 98se. I use Vegas, it'll work with everything. But if your using more demanding and buggy software, like premiere, you'll probally need to go for something in the 2 ghz range with atleast 512kb ram (1gb reccommended) Try to get as much hard drive space as possible. You can never have too much!
