Changing write speed

    Everyone on this forum (including me at times) says that a possible solution to failed DVD's is to slow down the write speed. 

   In DVD Studio Pro, how is this accomplished.  It seems that there is no setting  (at least not that I am able to find) to change the write speed.

   It seems the software/drive/whatever detects the capabilities of the disk then writes at it's maximum speed.

   Please... any info would help.
