    If all my footage was recorded on a sony 3ccd do I need a 3ccd camera to transfer the footage to my computer.?

   I have a sony camcorder but it's not 3ccd, how much would that affect the quality?

   No...it won't affect the quality at all...the 3ccd is just for recording...the digital info will just be transfered throught the firewire to your comp.
