Canon ZR700 vs Elura 100 vs Optura S1

   I am looking at replacing my Sony DCR-TRV10 (old and broken) camcorder and want to have something that has similar or better quality. Can't find the actual specifications on this camera. I am looking at the Canon series. The Effective pixels on Tape for the Canon ZR 700, Elura 100 and Optura S1 are 340,000; 690,000 and 1,230,000. Does anyone know what compares to my old camera? If not, what do I really need for editing home video with Adobe's Premiere? Yeah, I would really like the new Sony HD but I'm trying to be practicle (so says the boss - ie wife). Thanks
