Cannot Get camcorder to work on desktop

   I have a JVC GR-D750U that will ONLY operate on a laptop. I have purchased TWO different PCI Firewire cards that would not recognize it. If plugged in to any laptop, and it is instantly recognized. One laptop runs XP Pro and the other runs Windows 7. It was even connected to an iMac via firewire with the same result...no recognition.I have read the posts in the forum and none allude as to what the problem may be. With only a desktop, I don't have options other than craigslist or eBay. Any suggestions? I tried to call JVC and the offices are closed.

   Called JVC who said that there is nothing wrong with the camera and offered no suggestions or troubleshooting other than call the computer's manufacturer for troubleshooting. No more JVC machines for me.

   Keep asking.  Usually, they are not going to give you a flat out NO.  I would personally check if both of the cards are the same brands, and, the PCI slot is working in your computer.  If you've got a working PCI card, then try it in the PCI slot and see if it works.
