I don't understand why camcorder tests avoid straightforward quantitative measures. For example, I understand resolution is tested with a waveform analyzer. An image is taken of the target, then the wave form analyzer zooms to a section of the resolution lines. The highest resolution of the camera that resolves a 50ire difference is the maximum resolution. I assume the same test could be made using the zoom feature in Vegas, FCP, or PP with their waveform graph. So way isn't it published?

The same should be possible for sound capture, and maybe color accuracy.

    Why don't they do that?
