Burning Problem with Sony DRU_510a

   I'm using Roxio EMC7 to burn my DVD's. I had to do an OS reinstall of WinXP not long ago. Now, my Sonymultiformat burner makes coasters with DVDs. CDs burn and play fine...The error code given by both software I have tried is "Write Error"- "Medium Error" {03/0c/080}. Has anyone seen this...I have downloaded the firmware from Sony support. It does not correct the problem.

   Sounds like Easy Media Creator 7 probably needs to be updated. There may be an update option somewhere in the program itself (I haven't used it, so I couldn't tell you for sure) or, if you've registered the software, you can download the updates from Roxio's Web site. The burner you have is probably newer than the software as it came out of the box (or ESD file, whatever the case may be), so an engine update or a drive information file is almost certainly what you need. -Charles Fulton, Associate Editor, Videomaker Magazine

   Actually the problem is with Sony and cheap media. I bought 100 printable DVDs for $35. You get what you pay for. Sony acknowledges the problem but the 510a is still funny about the media. I sent the media back for refund. High end media works fine.
