Hello, I am looking for a camcorder that must have the following features, and hopefully be around the $1,000 price range:

    External Microphone Jack

    Headphone Jack

    Zoom/Focus

Must be able to attach by screw or by sliding onto a tripod

    Must not record to DVD

I edit in FCP on a MacBook Pro. Any thoughts?

If you are looking for a SD camera I would pick-up a Panasonic DVX100A. You can find them used on ebay for around $1,000. http://catalog.ebay.com/Panasonic-DV-PROLINE-AG-DVX100A-/43110237/r.html?_fcls=1

Hello, I am a newbie and this is my first post.

I am looking for a camcorder like that myself, preferably at least 720p. But in addition to accept sound from an external source (like a wireless microphone) it should perform well in very low light. I also do not want it to record to DVD. I own one like that and sometimes it cannot finish its own discs. I end up with video that I cannot play anywhere else but in the d..n camera.

Preferably a not very expensive one, but if I have decided to make video making my hobby, I probably will be willing to save up some money and buy a good camcorder.

I do not know whether to start a new topic for my question or post to an existing one, I ask the moderators to move this post if it should not be here.

     Hi duenas77.

If you are looking for a minimum of 720p and you have a few bucks to spend I really recommend the JVC GY-HD100 or 110 miniDV camcorder. It is a pro line unit that does low light well, has a changeable lense, XLR mic input, firewire output for download and they are turning up for sale on Craigslist these days and are in the $2500.00 dollar range. It's also a 3CCD sensor unit but that also means it's gonna eat batteries. I solved that with a Anton Bauer pack and mount. Some used cameras are coming with that.

    Just an idea,

    Marty

The Panasonic HDC-TM700 has all of that plus it's the only $1,000 camcorder that has a 1080p60 mode.
