    Videomaker,

Request your guidance regarding high-action, motion-intensive sports videos in your upcoming Short Video Contest - especially those focused on "action and music" and with little or no story-line. I had originally intended to submit such an entry, but now suspect it's the wrong arena. When rendered for Web delivery per contest instructions, it seems as if the final low-res product doesn't work for the subject matter.
Additionally, I noticed that action-only sports videos have never "made the cut" in previous years. I suspect it's largely for the reason described above.

Request the magazine's cut on this, and on whether, in the future, a Sports-Action Only category might be added to your contest - with submission format rules modified if appropriate?

[Sean, I moved your message into a new thread.] We may consider a sports category in the future. I will discuss this with my fellow editors as we plan for the next contest. As for having no winning sports video entries in recent years, we haven't received that many from contestants, so they compete with other drama and action videos, of which, we receive a sizeable quantity. We'd certainly encourage you to enter your video anyway (keep in mind that everyone else's video will look like yours does.) -Charles Fulton, Associate Editor, Videomaker Magazine

I agree, there should be a sports category. I think many young producers or cinematographers should start out here because this industry is usually independent and you can get a good name for yourself. This is basically where I got my start, Im into bike trials and its a great sport to film. Your quote from the post above how they'll all look the same? I don't really understand that.
Anyways, there should be a sports category.
*Keep in mind xtreme sports are better than your typical sports ex:hockey basketball football ect.
but more like: skateboarding, BMX, surfing ect.

I would have to agree with what has been said above... I know that I would also enter myself into the catagory if I was able to ( I don't know if I can actually enter because Im Canadian). But I know that I do alot of sports videos like skateboarding and alot of other extreme sports. And they aren't all the same... the editor and cameraman have to make things exciting and keep it exciting and fast past in there own way. Otherwise, yes, it will be just the same as any other sports video...
You just have to use your skills
