The BBB isn't the best place to check companies out - its sort of like having the foxes guarding the hen house. Better someplace like

Aside from outright crooks, you have companies like Beach Camera where the concensus is represented by this quote:
If everything goes fine this my be a good company to deal with, but have a problem and you are on you own. They take no responsibility and provide no help.
That person had ordered an expensive camera that got lost in shipping. It appears they're waiting weeks and still no refund and no camera. They'll probably come out with a refund in the end, but may go a couple months without. What a horrible experience!
A quick scan of this month's VM advertisers index shows -
Bargain-Camera: apparently a new company with no ratings yet. Be careful because crooks often use new names to get around ratings.
Broadway Photo: (and 100 other names!). let the ratings speak for themselves! These people must need bodyguards to walk in public!
B&H: Solid Gold!
As for ebay - while vendors selling new goods who've been around awhile (a year or more) and have better than 99.4 rating, might be fine - beware of used cameras!! It's important to have phone contact and even better to arrange a physical inspection or pickup in person when buying used. I've gotten ripped off twice on expensive used cameras on ebay, but after figuring out how to do it, I've since bought two used cameras and came out fine! (VX2100 and FX1)
