I am not quite financially able to get both the software and a camera at this time- so I was wondering if there is a converter that you can run out of an OLD camcorder into firewire?

I have an ancient Memorex VHS camcorder.

Another question: I got a brand new computer with a firewire port- how do I know if it is OHCI-compliant?

Thanks for answering these crazy questions.

Device Manager should identify your firewire card as OHCI compliant,or not. Both Pinnacle and Canopus make analogue to digital converters to take RCA/S-Video outputs from your camcorder and a firewire input to your PC. They range from $200-300 USD, but are still cheaper than a miniDV camera with built-in converter.
