Adapting a Construction tripod to accept video heads...

   Anyone know where I can find any information about adapting a construction (surveyor's) tripod to accept any of the standard heads?
   
   The tripods are massive, large, stable and cheap and it would seem natural to meld one with a decent head, but I haven't found anyone yet who's ttried it....

   This isn't very helpful, but just to give you hope, I did see a post at another forum where someone was going to try that. Try searching http://www.dvxuser.com or http://www.filmmaking.net/fnetforum, as it's likely that was where I saw the post. I don't really remember exactly, or even specifics of what they were doing, but I know they were going to try.

   any machine shop or hardware store should be able to hook you up with an adapter for the tripod head. check out manfrotto's catalog for adapters and or clamps (superclamp).
