I've been contemplating purchasing the Canon GL2 ($1979) or Sony TRV950 ($1599). Then I spotted the Sony PC330 ($1399) with a 3 Mega Pixel CCD with 2048 effective video pixels and 3040 effective digital still pixels. It provides up to 530 lines of horizontal resolution. Sounds impressive, but it's just numbers to me. How does this new 1CCD camcorder really compare to the other two mentioned 3CCD camcorders? I want good quality first, then the most bang for my buck next.
    Thanks,

If you're willing to spend $1400 to buy a camera, you shouldn't think twice about adding $200 more to get three CDD functionality. There's a big difference technically between 3 CCD and 1 CCD imaging, no matter how big the single CCD is. The fact is you get what you pay for when it comes to buying camcorders. The GL-2 is the most expensive, and will provide you with the best performance of the three cameras you listed. However, If you can afford $2000 for the GL-2, you should consider adding $200 more for the Sony VX2000 - then you'd be in broadcast quality territory, with the nearest rival XL-1 a whopping $1000 more expensive.
