&#60;p&#62;To build more on what Coreece has said, yes, it is typically used for HD, but you can still use it for SD. The benefits of ProRes include: &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;10-bit color space. So it holds up better for graphics, compositing, and color grading.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;full faster resolution when used for HD. Full raster means that it's actually 1920X1080 or 1280X720 instead of 1440X1080 or 960X720 and then stretched. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Much lower bit-rates than Uncompressed 10-bit video, but equal image quality. Uncompressed 10-bit video requires the use of a RAID while ProRes only really needs FW800. &#60;/p&#62;</description>
