I used to use this one:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/131444-REG/Libec_THM20_TH_M20_Aluminum_2_Stage_Tripod.html

It's great for the price.

I was in your same situation about a year ago. Looking for a decent tripod, but not wanting to spend $500.00+ dollars on a Bogen or Manfrotto.

I ended up with this:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/243272-REG/Davis_Sanford_PROVISTA7518B_Pro_Vista_Tripod_with.html

It's a great, affordable tripod. It has a decent fluid head that allows for very smooth pans and tilts.

I've used a lot of cheaper and more expensive tripods, but this one is a great bang for your buck. Just read the reviews on the B&H site and you'll learn alot about this great tripod.

I just purchased a second and could'nt be happier.

The only thing to watch out for: the head is made of aluminum and the tightening screws can strip the aluminum threads if you tighten too harshly.

Happy shopping!

I am looking for a tripod suggestion for my DCR VX2000 Sony. I need something smooth for pan and tilt shots. As well as lightweight..I am only 5'2 and not very strong :)

Is there a decent tripod out there for around $250???

I mostly need it for weddings. I move around a lot when I am shooting so it has to be easily portable.

Thanks in advance.
