I'm selling my very lightly used XHA1. I used the camera to shoot
church events so the camera didn't get a whole lot of use. I have always
used Sony's tapes camera was always stored in its case have never had a
single issue with it. I'm selling my XHA1 because i purchased a new
camera. If i could I would keep it as a second camera but my bank
account says no...

as you know the XHA1 doesn't have an hour meter. After counting my tapes
i have come to the conclusion the camera has about 15hours VERY low
time

Camera will come in original box with all original accessories

The camera will also come with lens protector (has been on since the day
i bought it only time it EVER came off was for periodic cleaning)

Included is 6 brand NEW tapes as well as one head cleaning tape

Sorry about the bad picture i took them with my phone just ask if you
want higher quality photos id be more then happy to do that for you

Sounds broken, maybe you should check it...

Forum readers may benefit from knowing if you you heard audio i.e. the sound of rain dissolving your bank account. You might say if you have tried that same tape and it works fine, or doesn't. Even other tapes since the rain incident. Were you recording with the lens cap on? Were you in manual mode and didn't compensate for the room light?

haha...i just saw this on CreativeCow.

Anyway...what is your end product going to be? If you know your end product will be an SD DVD or the web, I'd go with the PD170. If you're going to try to transfer to film in the end, then I'd shoot HDV (even though I don't like HDV) because it has a higher resolution.

I made a few independent movies over the years, mostly with friends camera and stuff, not too experienced with camera. I am more director than a cameraman.

Anyway, 99% of my use of the camera will be for film: cinema, tv...

I went to stores in my area, and I can't get the PD170 or the XH-A1 for the same price (brand new).

I know about the light issues, but I looked in some videos online, and from that short movies it seems to me like the XH A1 makes a better view after all.

What you think will be the best choice for me for FILM making?

P.S,
It will be PAL.

I'd pass...looks like another scam check out this site...

I'm glad I waited because I almost got scammed by self. Was looking for a Sony FX1000, and found 2 sites that were selling it for $1600 (this is a $3000 camcorder). Well two weeks later I was ready to order, tried finding the sites, they're gone. Did a google on them and found tons of scam and ripoff complaints all over the internet.

Even if there is one and the price is too good to be true I'm staying away from now on. Like he said, go w/ BHphoto, I've dealt with them twice this month (nothing video related) and their customer service is excellent!

check resellerratings.com to see if that site is a scam. Sounds to me it is. That camera doesn't go for that price.

I suggest bhphotovideo.com. Some of the other regulars on this forum can direct you to other trusted distributors as well.Â

My original plan was to get a an HVX as my primary camera and then a Cannon XHA1 as backup. But then a google search led me to prices as low as $2,700 for an HVX200A. Which would make it about the same price as the XHA1. Does anybody have experience with there lower price tags? There's got to be a catch, right?

Here's a short piece I did when it snowed recently in my area. Shot on a Canon XHA1 using the Letus Extreme 35mm adapter and, for the movement, I used an IndiSlider (available from Indifocus.com)

Hello! I am looking into tripods for a 10 pound camera (that's without lenses battery etc etc), I want something that has a good range of motion both to pan and tilt, that can securely support the weight (feels solid) and is easily used to create fluid motions.

Can someone make a suggestion?

Thanks
