I live in Shanghai and do volunteer work in China in 3 different orphanages. One thing I like to do when I go to a home is to have them do some kind of production. This is not only good for the students - they get to act, make sets, film, etc - but I also have something to give to the orphanage that they can use for PR purposes. I am somewhat of a newb at video but at the same time, also a jack of all trades :) I want to obtain equipment to help me video these productions.

Is it possible to connect a camcorder and a couple of flip type cameras to a pc and have the pc record the video directly onto the hard drive, and assign each camera to a separate video track? If this could be done it would simply the editing process, allowing the students themselves to assist or do it all. It would also reduce the amount of time needed to edit the project. Related to this, I would like to be able to connect a few microphones (cordless and corded) to the pc and assign a separate audio track to each microphone.

When I film, whether it is candid activity or a staged performance, I usually like to have 2 fixed cameras and one movable camera. I would like this all to be captured and saved onto one media in real time.

Hello,

Hopefully this is the right group to post in. I am looking for a good software solution that will allow me to capture video from a camera hooked to the computer (webcam or in this case, via a capture card), audio from a professional microphone hooked to the computer via mixing board and USB device and a presentation on the screen. Basically, I want to be able to switch back and forth from the camera and the presentation all while recording it.

The only software I have found that seems to have this functionality is webcammax (http://www.webcammax.com). However, the video is extremely choppy and does not align with the audio. I am using a quadcore system with 4GB of RAM and an Osprey capture card. Maybe I need some other hardware to make this work right?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I recently got a Canon ZR830 MiniDV camcorder and I use it to document my 2-year-old's wacky antics, so I'm not trying to do anything fancy.

When I capture the video (via firewire) and go to edit it in Premiere Elements 4, it tells me frames were dropped (and the resulting video is obviously choppy). Or, if I capture it and edit in Movie Maker, it plays back at double speed. I've also tried using Nero (can't remember specifically which program) and get a ton of dropped frames. Even WinDV (which I've heard is "idiot-proof" in terms of dropped frames) drops tons and tons of frames.

I can't figure out what the problem is, and Adobe's online "help" is not all that helpful, and neither is Canon's e-mail support.

I've got a P4, 2.0 GHz CPU with 1 GB RAM, GeForce 6600GT video card, and I'm capturing the video onto a secondary hard drive (80 GB with 45 GB free, 7200 RPM) so I feel like my system is more than capable of handling this job.

Even after (coincidentally) re-formatting my C: drive I tried capturing to my D: drive and still got a ton of dropped frames.

At this point I'm wondering if it's possibly related to my Firewire card or Firewire cable (both of which are brand new, but inexpensive). It's getting really frustrating, so any help or insight is appreciated!

As a newbie, I only still have an analog camera...I would like to shoot fresh video footage to use in practicing with FCP 6.

Would purchasing the Pinnacle Video capture for MAC allow me to convert my analog footage to a useable  format for my IMAC so I could start editing with Final Cut Pro 6?

Thanks

I would like to capture video from my camera directly on to a laptop hard drive. At the same time using the laptop screen as a shooting monitor. Is there

always a delay, which makes this impossible? Â Or do some programs display actual live real time video? I have not purchased a laptop for this purpose, so

I am completely open to suggestions. I shoot 16 to 20 gigs of mpeg in a day.Â
