Looked good with three (very) minor critiques:

1) the track was off on the laser beam going into his hands at a couple of points

2) the physics of the robot fall didn't 'feel' quite right

3) the jump to flight effect, he took off before extending his legs.

The compositing of the laser beam/rock explosions were excellent!

Nice video. Is that a toy model chromakeyed or did you model the robot yourself on a 3D modeling program?

Hi Guys, I made this video where I tried to use a model robot. It is first time I tried to use a model in my videos. If you will be so kind, have a look and let me know what do you think about it.

pretty sweet. i liked some of your other stuff on your youtube channel, too. who doesn't like blow em up shoot em up? only criticism i have is at 0:48 the dust flares up, making it look like they're shooting from where the camera is, yet they're shooting from the camera's left. maybe the 180 degree rule is the problem, i don't know. but overall, good stuff.

I originally created this one to test 24p workflow. Realized I had enough shots to throw something together. Prop weapons are all Airsoft guns.

Excellent.

Somebody spent some time at Master Kramer's VFX website! Nice job with the VFX. Things you missed;

No smoke from the weapons (okay, there was some with the pistols in the opening gun battle, but none later)

No spent cartridges ejecting

No holes or damage in the corrugated roof when the bullets ricochet off

Reaction times were a bit off during the hand to hand scenes

Scenes exposures were too dark in places, but that may have been YouTube's malfunction

You could have pushed the 'Matrix Effect' with the Ninjas better

Still these were minor tweaks for an overall fun to watch vid.

Matteo G. thanks for the response. Top notch videos. The amount of forethought used before shooting as well as the attention to detail involved in post are very apparent in the final product. I hope others on the forum view your work and share their input with you. Keep shooting.

Thanks for your reply and your compact and dense analysis, it sounds sincere.

I use to work on Windows's platform, through adobe's applications.

No plugins used, except for particular cases. Usually, post
production in my works is about "set extensions" (made firstly in
photoshop or 3d applications such 3d studio max) and "selective color
correction", making rotoscoping for every shape needed (ex. skin, hairs,
lights, shadows, clothes...) in every single frame, and doing a custom
color correction depending on psychology needed in the shoot or details.
Before every project starts, i try to setting up a custom color
correction directly on the camera, to give a different personality to
the image, then i retouch it on After Effect.

That's what i do usually.

Thanks for your questions and encouragement.

Matteo G., last but not least, nice short clip certainly kept my attention, beautiful women helps there. I want one of those Italian shirts (Max Martini)! Nice dramatic editing. 'Cold Hype' crisp editing style stirs interest in what was to come after, but unfortunately didn't. The demo clips of the post-production techniques were very instuctive, could be made into tutorial for editors. I know you mentioned camera/lenses, but what were your tools in post, editing software, plugins, etc. Keep shooting.

Hi everybody,

i'm new here as in videomaker's world too.

My name is Matteo and i come from a weird country from Eeurope...too weird to put the name here...anyway, i've just signed a new account here cause i need to get different confrontation with different and various point of views.

First of all, i'd like to show you the last one, a viral made for an italian shirt's brand.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx63BQc-RVY

Shots were made with a Canon XHA1s + SgBlade + Nikon 50mm 1:1,8f. This is the configuration i use to apply on all of my productions.

This is the promo of my last videoclip, made for an indipendent singer named DORIAN.

You can see the full lenght video on http://www.grossim.altervista.org (wich is my website).

Here's the clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q7Uo8yn0Uw

As the previous one, CanonXha1s + SgBlade and Nikon lenses were used (50 and 28 mm).

You can find 2 making of the clip about "set extensions" and "color correction" here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyNzlgYeTbI

and here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oPXm8-3f08

Dorian's one was my second music video, and here's my first one, made for STEREOLINE, another indipendent pop band:

http://www.youtube.com/embed/IuWlqcl4hwc

Same camera set-up.

Cold Hype is my first project, my first application on the set, my first madness:

http://www.youtube.com/embed/watch?v=7r8emz_W-UU

it was ment to be a PitchTrailer of an original script, wiche never seen the light...it was made in 2008.

Configuration is about Canon XHA1 and nothing else...just used basic lenses, and made a hard color correction.

Last but not least, an easy promo made for a fotographer friend of mine, Luciano Consolini:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUz1RZZUtfU

Same configuration of ever used, but no prelight made, no pre production, no color correction...shooten as i felt it :D

So, that's all for now, i've nothing to show you more, but i'm workin hard to get more customers and more videos.

Hope to get some suggestions and feedback from you.

Cheers.

Matteo G.

Pro Juice has gone live on Koldcast TV with website.

Pro Juice Series 1 is 5x26 minute presenter driven episodes about video, music and new media for ‘guerrilla producers’ and those who dabble. It’s fast paced, shoot from the hip, music video style programming. Professionally produced, but alternatively ‘pro-juiced’, original stories cut hard to provide informative and entertaining viewing.

There are 2 episodes already live on Koldcast a new episode will stream each Saturday.

In the first episode of the series, Arlo shows us how to prep your drums to keep yourself super-efficient when in the studio, Nick will cut Arlo’s head off in a tip for creating headless humans, we’ll chat to designer Jonathan Chong about the process of creating his cracking steam-punk animated clip for music producer, Spoonbill, look out for a quick tip on keeping your guitar firmly strapped on and we create mayhem in the kitchen with some break beats.

http://www.koldcast.tv/#/video:pro_juice_ep_1

In the second episode of the series, Nick turns Arlo into Will Smith from Bad Boys in his tip on creating a heat haze effect, Arlo shows us a quick tip on pitching up your snare sound, ala Chemical Brothers. We infuriate rock musicians by showing you how to fake a killer guitar sound with a synth and Jo and Juan drop in to chat about their beautiful flash and after effects animated Columbian music video, Cuando Ries.

http://www.koldcast.tv/#/video:pro_juice_ep_2

We’re sure you’re going to dig the series and remember a new episode is uploaded each Saturday so stay tuned for more wicked content.

Peace out,

Nick and Arlo at Pro Juice
pro.juice.tv@gmail.com

Myself and a number of friends just completed a short film called 'The Rat King', and I was curious if a few of you would not mind casting votes for us at the site it is currently posted at. It is in competition to win funding for a feature-length adaptation, but requires votes in order to make the finals. We worked really hard on the film, and would greatly appreciate any support that anyone can lend us!

If you do not mind, please take a moment to sign up on the web site (no worries— it is free), and give it five stars (votes will not count without all five stars).

That is very cool! I'm struggling with Motion. I have Final Cut Studio, and Motion is the one program that seems to confuse me. After watching your vid, I think I'll check out the Lynda.com learnin's lol

I recently edited a TV special on the Australian National Junior
Motocross Competition. In the program they interviewed the current
world champion in the 85cc class. While were promised a series of
photos showing him with his winning bike and trophy… they never arrived.

So at the eleventh hour I had to quickly make a graphic to end the
segment with him. With only about 45 minutes to make something from
scratch this is a tutorial showing what i came up with…

So i just finished watching the 3rd series of the HBO production,
Deadwood and i thought i would have a crack at recreating the opening
title sequence in After Effects. It is not an overly complicated text
effect, however it looks very cool. This is always a cool way to keep
your skills up in motion graphics and just fun really!

The project is available to download here:

We recently interviewed Michael Ciccone of Happy Days Films about the production of a new music video for Australian act, Graveyard Train. Well... the music video is finally complete and here for your viewing pleasure. You can catch the interview with Michael next week.

http://www.projuice.org/GraveyardTrain.html

It was shot in Victoria, Australia on the RED camera and looks amazing!!

Who are Graveyard Train? Graveyard Train ripped chains and hammers from hell to forge Horror Country. They are the pioneers of a new genre that will make you cry and curse and scream. Ghost stories, murder ballads and tales of redemption are crooned through melodies plucked directly from the afterlife.

We put together a tutorial showing how the time remapping in this music video can be achieved.

http://www.projuice.org/Time_Remapping.html

In this tutorial, Nick takes you through the steps of creating the time remapping sequences used to simulate the spasms our singer is experiencing due to the voodoo doll being struck with a needle. You might want to check the clip on the Showcase Page if you missed it.

In preparation for a web series that Pro Juice have in pre-production, i've been playing around with some effects that are to appear in a number of the episodes.

Plasma Screen Effect

The first effect is replicating the look of a large screen plasma TV. One of the characters appears on a screen mounted on a wall and then interacts with the characters in the room. It looks like we will achieve the effect in post, so in this tutorial i take you through some of the steps involved in creating this dot-matrix type pattern which is in effect a working style guide for some effects that will appear in the web series - The Science of Night.
