Howdy! It's been a long time since I've been active on videomaker, but I want to get back in. I'd love it if anyone would take the time to watch and/or critique this short film my team and I recently finished. I was the Director of Photography, among other things. It is a science fiction short set in a dystopian alternate future - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMdnKqHrgdo

We used 2 cameras, a Panasonic HMC-150, and a Canon T2i was used for the close up shots during the main sequence.

Any feedback you can offer is appreciated!

Well in the midst of the hoopla, excitement and 'lemming-like' rush to purchase Apple's new iPhone someone actually found a practical use for the thing (since you can't use the phone unless "You just don't hold it that way.") Filmmaker Michael Koerbel has made the unofficial 'first' movie using the new phone called "Apple of My Eye". It's a cute little film apparently done in 48 hours with nothing more than the phone itself. The most interesting elements about the short film are the great camera angles and the surprisingly good quality of the video. At least if you can't call with the thing, you can shoot a nice looking short....

Here's short film we did with a Nikon D5000. It's really random, but it looks sort of cool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQvkVgdY350

HDSLR's are quite good for what you spend. I was quite impressed by the quality from a sub-$1000 camera.

Hi! I'm new here and I would like you guys to give me some ideas on how to make The Canon Vixia's 24p (through pulldown) to look even more like film because my videos have that sort of blurriness that you find in film but they don't run as smoothly. The image is great but isn't there a plug-in for Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro to make everything more "dreamy" and soft? Thankz

I am working and trying to be a filmmaker and I've been reading a lot about filmmaking so I bought a couple of books and I can say I'm a little bit knowlegeable about what to do as a director but I don't have a lot of money to rent a Genesis or a Panavison camera so I have to work with what I have. I'll keep you updated about my first effeort. I wrote 2 scripts, 1 es suppsed to be a short and the other almost a feature lengh film (maybe 70 minutes long). I hope to start shooting by July so any help would be more than welcome. :)

Another thing..do you think I should make the whole white balancing process in-camera or doing the post-production?

For nearly a year I've been posting about the revolution DSLR cameras have been causing and posting 'beauty' vids from the cam's in action. However, my posts have been lopsided towards the Canon line of rigs. In an attempt to be balanced, here's a short vid by Carolyn Pitcavage called Uncle Jack. Normally, quirky flicks give me the hives, but this one was worth the initial itching. It was shot with the Pentax K7. Enjoy.

This was a 10 minute short film we shot on my Canon GL2, then edited in Sony Vegas. Any criticism is very much welcomed.

http://vmix.com/video/1560091/

We wanted a hazy, dreamy look, so we used a soft contrast filter in post. Any suggestions to better our skills would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm John Romeo, creator and host of "The Romeo Theater", an online show. In each show we present a short movie, and the director shares a little bit about the story behind it.

I'm always looking for short films to feature on the show! If you'd like to present your movie (under 5 minutes long) on The Romeo Theater, visit the website at http://www.romeo-theater.com and click the 'Submissions' link on the right. I would love to see your stuff!

You can view the show at the website to see how the format works: http://www.romeo-theater.com. You can also 'subscribe' to the show as a video podcast by searching "Romeo Theater" in Apple iTunes. Select shows are also available at my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/TheRomeoTheater

Last summer I wrote a short story and submitted into Spinetinglers.co.uk and it got nice remarks from those who commented on it.

http://www.spinetinglers.co.uk/ViewStory.aspx?story=186

Last October at my high school level film school, we were assigned a one minute short which we had to shoot with no audio and then present it with a soundtrack we would have to create ourselves.

 Here are my storyboards:

http://www.box.net/shared/khmi480sg4

http://www.box.net/shared/kjxvyrcw00

And here's the video itself, which is made to look like one shot:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vwmOFwq-uTM

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
