Some friends and I decided we'd like to try and do a short film. So we made an outline to write, score, film, and edit in 12 hours and this is the outcome! Shot entirely with a hacked GH1 and a 50mm canon fd lens

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

Longtime VM subscriber, new to the forums but I thought I'd share a short film I made last year for a Halloween-themed competition -- now that it's that time of year again, I thought it might be a good time to get it out there.

Comments and constructive criticism are, of course, very greatly appreciated. Enjoy!

Film was shot in 24p HD on a Canon HV20, edited on a PC with Premiere Pro.

I have posted on youtube my first "dramatic" short film. It is titled "Shirt." Shirt is simply a reason to make a movie. I made it so I could learn and I hope you can give me helpful feedback! I also hope you will enjoy watching Shirt.Â

The inspiration for Shirt was a movie called, "Le Elephant."Â Le Elephant is the work of another forum member, januszian.

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a decent camcorder for making short films, as well as home videos. I'm not a professional film maker so I'm looking for something suitable for a new starter, but with reliable quality and feature-set. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions based on the following basic specifications:

1. atleast 10x optical zoom

2. external mic (audio input)

3. since I plan to edit the short films on my computer, I guess DV or DVD storage is more suitable, rather than a hard-disk (less reliable I suppose)

4. I mainly plan to distribute the short film(s) online (streaming videos), and once in a while on DVD's; so I guess 24fps (PAL) and web quality are important as well

5. I'm located in Melbourne, Australia; and my budget is under US $1000

Please share your suggestions.

Thanks in advance! Cheers :)

I need a professional video camera for making a documentary and several shorts films. I'm clueless when it comes to tech. I'd like to spend about $3,000 but can spend 5-6k if it's absolutely necessary. From what I've read, I think I want an HD camera. I will submit to film festivals so I want quality that is professional. My boyfriend is a professional editor so he can edit my stuff on Avid or Final Cut Pro.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
