Some buddies and I have put together some test footage for a superhero themed project. Right now, we just shot some test footage and hoping to develop into a web series.

Any feedback is appreciated!

AMAZING JOB!
I specially loved the restroom scene...maybe if you put one of those crappy scary movie sounds to build tension (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAP26hS82BU&feature=related) It would be even better.

Howdy! It's been a long time since I've been active on videomaker, but I want to get back in. I'd love it if anyone would take the time to watch and/or critique this short film my team and I recently finished. I was the Director of Photography, among other things. It is a science fiction short set in a dystopian alternate future - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMdnKqHrgdo

We used 2 cameras, a Panasonic HMC-150, and a Canon T2i was used for the close up shots during the main sequence.

Any feedback you can offer is appreciated!

Thanks birdcat, glad you dug it! I was a bit worried about people not being able to get past the first 30 seconds. I'll risk it. The motivation behind this commercial is a direct response to our town's local film festival. They've been running for 20+ years in a historic theater downtown. We submitted a couple of decent shorts to the short film portion of their week long festival. They didn't accept our shorts, and some of the stuff they did accept looked like the first 30 seconds of this commercial.

Our purpose with OAFF is to provide a venue for filmmakers and movie watchers to see something in our community that isn't intentionally crappy for the sake of "art." Maybe I'm just bitter? I don't know... maybe. But I also recognize good fillmmaking, and my town is long overdue for a different film festival.

HDSLR's are quite good for what you spend. I was quite impressed by the quality from a sub-$1000 camera.

Hello all, my production team Mutually Assured Productions has decided to host a film festival in Olympia Washington. We've been planning for months now, and are launching our website.

Nice stuff but intro lasts too long. about 16 seconds till any info about what you are showing. For a demo video on Nature the demo one you gave did not show nature. Remember in Video and all productions you have a few seconds to keep someone's attention. Quality looks good. Just work on the speed of telling the story. Will really increase the viewers.

Hi Craig -

Don't know if you have this aspect covered but Digital Juice has a neat product to safely (and temporarily) mount your camera to a car (or anything else for that matter) called a "Low Rider" - They sell it with an optional mounting kit.

http://www.digitaljuice.com/products/products.asp?pid=1151

Like I told some of you, I'm working on a car chase film. Small, for the purpose on gaining experience (which I think I'll get a LOT of it after this one. So far I learned what not to do, haha).Â

Well, day #1 write up on my blog.Â
http://craigsnedeker.tumblr.com/post/886348671

That photo has not been post-production edited (except contrast) so expect a little better look later.

Tonight, I hope, I'll be shooting my first short :) A 2 minute (give or take) car chase around the block with my car and my parents car, if they feel up to driving tonight. I'll let you know how it goes

Sorry for taking too long to answer but thank you for everything. I've been making a few short clips just to test the shutter speeds and some of them really improve the look of my videos and i'll soon be getting some of those Azden microphones.

Using different shutter speeds will produced a better feel to your footage when motion is involved.

Videomaker had a good article about making your footage appear more film like.

http://www.videomaker.com/article/12720/

also, read this article too

http://www.videomaker.com/article/13747/

As for sound. Depending on the project, I use wireless lapel mics. Audio Technica pro-88w is a good one for $150, and the microphone canon makes for the camera, 2591 B002, that fits right in to the mini shoe is good to.
