Does anyone know if the GL2 will work with a class 10 card? Also will the memory card allow video capture or only stills?

My instinct says that I'm probably safer to use tape anyway, but if anyone has a different opinion then this is the place to share it!

I had a few problems with my old Panasonic camera using miniDV tape but generally it worked well.

my canon GL1 has been sitting lonely on a shelf for a few years now. i never liked having to do video capture in order to get the video into my pc which is probably one of the reasons i gave up on video as a hobby - that is until digital camcorders that could record to sdhc came on the scene. since then, i've been rekindling my hobby since it is so each to get video into the pc now. but, i still wish i could find some use for my GL1 without breaking the bank. does anyone know if any of these things are possible and how to do it

1 - connect the GL1 directly to a pc to record directly to disk rather than to a miniDV tape. i would be willing to use the camera in a fixed studio setting if this is possible

2 - is there a cheap miniDV player that can convert a tape to sdhc or a harddrive

3 - i know there is a cool device that can connect to the DV port and record directly to a built in hard drive, but this is rather expensive - way more than what i would be willing to spend. http://store.mcetech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=QSDV-HDV-6&Category_Code=DV&Product_Count=0

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,

I'm about to buy a GY HM100, so I'm also looking which SDHC cards to use. I know class 6 is the mininum, but will class 10 also work? Also, I found a website where they sell class 1 HD cards. Would these work?

Second; what bitrate should the cards have? I know the camera can go up to 35Mbit/s, which I assume, is when it records in 1080p. So the cards should also have a minimum of 35Mb/s?

If there are users here who can share there experience with this camera and these SDHC-cards, that would be great.

Thanks,

Is it possible for a camcorder that supports a SDHC card up to 16GB to get a firmware update to support 32GB? or is this down purely to hardware?

June 21st 2009. Allison and I stayed up all night and headed to the top of Tumwater hill about 4:30 am to watch the sun rise. Still in the honeymoon phase with my new
Panasonic HMC-150, still getting to know it, to understand it's strengths, weaknesses and limitations. A beautiful sunrise. Saw a rabbit while up there, he made it in to the video, and helped me
realize what music I wanted to cut this to. "Time" is one of my all time favorite songs. I know I'm not supposed to use it, but I could think of nothing else that seemed more fitting to me than this song. I'm not making any money on this video, and I gave credit, so we'll see what happens...

At full resolution some of the darker areas seem a bit noisy. I've been quite impressed with the camera overall so far - caveat; the chassis seems cheap to me. It's all plastic. After coming from the DVX-100b and it's solid magnesium alloy chassis, the HMC seriously seems like it could never be as durable as the DVX. Not that I plan on dropping it - and I realize that plastics are a phenomenal material. In all actuality, it's probably fine, it just feels cheap.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIuY-rePSw8&feature=channel_page

Any words of encouragement or condemnation are respected and/or appreciated! Thanks.

Hello.

I am hoping to upgrade to the Panasonic AGCHM-150PJ in AVCHD. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001DKELYC/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance. I have the Cineform NeoScene codec, so AVCHD should not be a problem.

However, I am also looking for a good backup/pocket/B-roll AVCHD camera to go with it, hopefully also feeding to SDHC/Flash cards.

My budget is anywhere from $600.00 to $1400.00, depending. I am open to all manufacturers, but would prefer to go with SDHC/Flash, rather than a hard drive model. For a B-roll camera, visual quality is the main concern, but audio quality is also a consideration.

Thank you for any advice and help you can give.

Hello, I had read that Videomaker had posted HMC-150 footage for downloading somewhere back in November. I can't seem to find it. I'm wondering if anyone has any generic HMC-150 footage in it's native AVCCAM state. I'm on the verge of buying one. I'd really like to try a test run editing some footage to see if my computer will be able to handle it. Unfortunately I don't live in an area where these cameras are readily available to rent, so I'll give this a shot and see if it works. I just don't want to sink the money into the camera to then find out I need to upgrade my computer.

The specs on my computer - if it helps anyone who has edited this footage give me feedback; 2.8 dual core iMac with 4 gigs of ram.

Any info or help is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone used the Panasonic AG-HMC70? It's a 1080i AVCHD shoulder mounted cam that records to SDHC cards. It also has XLR inputs and BNC out. For the price ($2100) it looks like it might be a good entry HD camcorder. Just wondering if anyone had used it.

Anyone gone hands on yet with this SD & SDHC recordable Panasonic? If so, care to share the good, the bad and the ugly? I've read some of the trades articles, and the four-page insert by Panasonic, now I hope for some real life input, or a reality check regarding the unit from an event and commercial production view. As averse as I have been toward AVCHD, this camera appears to have enough stuff going for it that I could be swayed.

I thought I already posted this question here.. I don't know what happened to it. Anyway. Has anyone looked into this camcorder. I'm not really seeing any reviews and am very curious about it. I understand the argument for mini-dv, but I love using flash memory. Here's the link if you want to take a look:
