If your project is non-profit, check out mobigratis.com. The composer has made several dozen tracks available for independent/not-for-profit productions just for asking (and production credit) I've used them a couple of times. The hard part was convincing You-Tube that I actually had rights to the track, but we got it straightned out.

Hi all! I've been looking for places to post my link so folks will
find my free music. If this isn't an appropriate forum for that let
me know. You can find my music here
http://taylorhayward.org/<wbr></wbr>freemusic.htm . I made it royalty free and
it's currently being used in about three-hundred videos on the web.
Enjoy!

We use Crucial Music at my work. You'll need to talk with them to discuss your needs and the purpose of your videos so they can determine a price. We don't do enough work to justify an annual subscription with them. So we just pay for each song individually when we make our videos.

We pay $150 per song, which is more expensive, but their service cut down a lot of time in our music search and the quality of music is much better. So it's worth the cost. If your videos are for sale, will be broadcast on TV, or used in a film, your cost will increase drastically.

Corporate video is a big portion of my business and for that genre I use Sonic Fire Pro extensively, followed by Digital Juice Stack Traxx.

The SFP library is enormous plus they run specials very often and I have purchased many of their libraries for $20 each or less.

DJ has brought back their Stack Traxx for $20 or less each but you need to catch them when they happen.

There are so many providers of RF music out there, but does anyone know
of any providers with actual cool music? Some qualifiers...

1. Doesnt sound straight out some kid's synethesizing software (ie actually sounds produced)
2. Doesn't sound like it's from the 80's (or 90's for that matter) but sounds modern and cool
3. Doesn't cost rediculous amounts of money.
4. Actually has music that you can legitimitely use in a myriad of
corporate productions (ie its great to have these hard core cinematic
hollywood scores...but often they just sound dumb in a corporate
production). I need stuff I can use often in corporate videos, that just
sounds modern / slick.

I've had some success with some nice tracks from http://www.premiumbeat.com
- but they just dont have the largest range. What is there seems to be
good, but I feel like I have exhausted my options... I've requested
client access to killertracks.com - but they dont post the costs on
their site, and I have a feeling they are crazy expensive...

Are there any gems out there that I am not aware of?? I'd love to hear about it.

Chris,

Rather than tell you what I believe would sell, I recommend you simply shoot as much as you can. Most of it will probably be unusable (for personal or professional), but you may get some amazing, once-in-a-lifetime shots. You can't really predict what you'll come across. That said - take plenty of charged batteries and blank media. Good luck!!

Hi all,

I'm off to the Galapagos in June. I went there 22 years ago when I was 12 years old and it was unbelievable. The animals are all unafraid of humans so you can get within touching distance of them. It would be the most amazing place to get stock footage that I could sell. I see SD clips of animals shot there (sealions, iguanas, finches, frigates, etc etc) selling for US$199 on stock footage sites, so I figure I can take some time out to get some footage. Problem is that the regular tours are tightly controlled (time of stay on each island, close supervision etc). Does anyone have any experience of shooting there? Does anyone know what sort of footage (types of animals etc) sells the best?

Any thoughts on this would be massively appreciated!!

Â

Chris

Â

I shoot with Sony Z5's so I will take one of those along.Â

AS Craig states, Sonic Fire Pro IS really good - I use it whenever I need exact lengths (to about the second) of really nice assortments of music - They run specials every now and again (like 5 discs of about 8-10 songs each for $100) which make it affordable for everyone (including me). I also love the new scoring edition of the software - Gives me a LOT of control in how the music flows.

Also good was CineScore from Sony - They pulled it (couldn't or wouldn't compete with SmartSound) from the market but I have seen copies of it on eBay - I liked the control it gave (like Sonic Fire Pro) but the music was not nearly as varied or abundant as SmartSound's, albeit I think their interface gave me more control plus it works as a plug-in with Vegas.

I also love Digital Juice's StackTraxx series - They are no longer sold (they might make return special appearances but you'd have to check the website regularly) - Their newer music offerings - MusicBox - are good as well.

There are many other options for RF music as well - A search of these forums will produce many threads with dozens of websites (some good, some awful) with price points ranging from free to hundreds of dollars. Best bet would be to look at as many of them as you can and listen to what they offer and note the price - Then purchase what you a) like and b) can afford.
