I do that so that I can run previews always at full/best.  Make sure you are running at least i7 Quadcore processor at minimum 2.8 Ghz.  Make sure you have at least 6GB of at least 1033 or 1333 mhz RAM.  I recommend 8+ gigs. </p> <p>Vegas likes processor power and RAM, not so much video card power. When I edit, I set the preview settings to auto, I disable my internet connection and disable any running functions of norton anti-virus to free up cpu resources. this usually makes editing more bearable.
