navyspecwarfare on "Sony Vegas Project Template vs. Render"

So, sometimes I am a bit confused about the difference between setting up the Sony Vegas template vs. the render settings.

I am assuming that the template is supposed to match my media. In other words, if I shot in HD, I should make sure my template matches those HD settings. If I shot in SD, I should make sure the template matches that such as NTSC DV 720x480.

I am also assuming that you just render to whatever media you want your final project on.

So, in my case, I have footage shot in HD. I want to edit it in Vegas, yet I want to have the option to output it to both HD Bluray and SD DVD.

Is it as simple as me just setting up the template in HD, then choosing to render as either HD for BluRay or SD for DVD? Setting up the template in HD for editing but then rendering to SD will not cause issues will it?!

Many thanks.

navyspecwarfare on "AVCHD .mts to Standard DVD in Sony Vegas and DVD Architect?!"

<p class="post">

When I drop my AVCHD .mts clips from my Canon HF10
camera into Sony Vegas Platinum
(consumer version), and then use the make DVD wizard, it renders and
then sends my media files to DVD architect 4.5 and then burns my DVD to
look spectacular. This is fantastic because my project I'm working on
is going on
4.7GB DVDs for commercial DVD players or computers. I simply shot in HD
because I wanted the option in the future to burn to Blu-ray, but won't
be doing that as of yet.

I don't want to use Sony Vegas Platinum though....I want more
advanced options and more options later for BluRay, etc etc etc and thus
need to edit, render, send the edited/rendered files to DVD architect
pro 5.0, and then burn to DVD using Sony Vegas Pro, not Platinum.

Sony Vegas Pro does not have this streamlined "make DVD" option like
the nice consumer version does.
After editing in Vegas Pro, I have to manually render my project using
the plethora
of options available, which honestly, I don't know much about. I've
tried rendering using NTSC widescreen for DVD architect (MPEG-2), I've
tried HDV with high settings, etc etc etc and when I drop these rendered
files into DVD Architect, they don't turn out well quality-wise like
they did in Sony Vegas Platinum using the automatic make DVD settings.Â
I
simply want to render these edited .mts files to a format that DVD
architect will like and then burn in high quality so my DVDs look good
on any DVD player with a standard monitor or HD monitor. Vegas
Platinum
does a great job, but it's unknown to me what it is doing behind the
scenes to render my files before it sends them off to DVD architect.
Obviously it works great given my test with Vegas Platinum and native
.mts files, but I have no idea what Vegas Platinum is doing to convert
or render these editing .mts files to make them still high quality and
smooth for DVD architect. I just need to know how to replicate this
process manually in Vegas Pro and I'm set.

So to recap, and in a nutshell, I need to know what render settings
to choose in Vegas Pro after editing my .mts files natively so I can
then send them over to DVD architect pro 5.0 and burn my project to a
DVD without loss of visual quality.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Who all here is using Magix Movie Pro edit 12? I'm thinking about forming a users group. I don't think there already is one. Posts in this thread will give me some feedback as to there being enough interest. From Video Deluxe 2.0 to Edit 12 or other Magix editors, if you use them and would be interested, post a note here.

Hello All.

I don’t come from a photographic background (I am a Singer/songwriter/producer) but I always loved making videos with my Sony HD camera and, I recently bought a Canon 550D/T2i camera as well.

My question is this:

After shooting my video with my DSLR or video camera, what’s the best way to go about editing it?

I bought Sony Vegas Pro 10…. (I like to jump in at the deep end!!)

I also bought Cineforms NeoScene and Magic Bullets Mojo.

Let’s say that I have a 3 minute video with about 50 clips…..do I import all my clips onto the timeline together and edit, apply the effects etc or, should I just import one clip at the time, edit it, add effects etc and then export it for use later on?

If I import one clip at the time….in what format should I render it for later use in the making of the 3 minute video?

Thank you all very much in advance for your time and help.

Best wishes.

I have noticed there isn't much out with the Canon cameras yet. Are there other pro cams that use CF Cards? I know the XH A1S would be much less, but then I'd have to deal with tape path. Currently using 2 Canon XL1s' so I reckon anything is UP!!!

My question is in regards to publishing original videos online with clips from tv shows recorded via DVR.

Is it legal to use video acquired from a DVR system in a video of your own? (like video clips from the news or a tv show)

If so, are there regulations? ( Water mark? Not full screen, or frame the original video?)

Is youtube's policy on this congruent with the actual copyright law?

This is done all the time in pop culture talk shows where they review what happened the previous night on television... is this relevant?

Whenever I load a video (that looks nice and sharp in any player) into Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c, it is blurry in the Preview window, in "Preview in Player" and in rendered video, even using the Lagarith codec.

I can add "Sharpen" to the EventFX, but if I do that then my bezier masks tend to have lines around them.

I can find no option anywhere that I can turn on/off to fix this. It does it on two machines running XP Pro/Home.

So, what happened is that my brother comes at 12:07 AM, and says, "Oh, Caio, I kinda forgot to ask you something before. I have this project on History class and i need to make a video about the book Uncle Tom's Cabin."

I felt honored, you know? my brother was asking for me to help him. He is 16 and i am 14. So, i ask him, "When is it due?"

"Tomorrow Morning" - he answers me.

" You know that i can't make a video in such short time."

"I know it is hard, but i was thinking of doing it on Movie Maker"

"If you use Movie Maker i will kill you."

"What?"

"Ah... Nevr mind! i will do the video for you!"

So, I made the video in 3 hours in Sony Vegas Pro 8, Made a really cool DVD Menu With DVD Archictect and Photoshop, and gave the DVD to him. When he came back the next day, he was like, "WOW CAIO! My teacher loved the video! He said it was one of the best that he ever saw! MY..ahhh... I mean YOUR video will be on the morning annoucements!"

So, doing this video i lerned several things.

1- Helping Others Feel Good

2- This was the first time that i used the Pan/Crop Tool in Vegas. I think i got it how to use.

3- It feels really bad when someone else takes credit for your work. Specially when 5,000 Students see the video, are amazed by it, and they think that you didnt do it.

SO, what i am asking, my fellow videomakers, is to tell my your opinion about my video. I mean, I thought it was great, but not THAT GREAT! Is everybody overreacting or is the video really really awesome? Tell me your Honest Opinion. And also, how can i improve my video? Any tips will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Caio =D

PS.: It wasn't a total blow for me. My mom got to know what happened, and she paid me 100 bucks for the video! =D but i am not going to use the money. I am going to donate it to the Pet Shelter that i volunteer on. They are really great people, with really great animals! =D

My question is in regards to output connections. Currently I have a GL1 and a GL2; BOTH of which have worn loose the 1394 firewire (mini) connections. I'm losing connectivity between the camera and laptop (using DV Rack / On location). Is there a better camera output I should be looking for when shopping for replacement cameras? When moving the camera over and over on the tripod, the connections have become loose. These cameras are approximately 6 years old and need replacing anyways. I don't want to make the same mistake with new equipment. Any suggestions out there? Thanks to all!

I have 4 videos I'd like to put onto one scene & I've put a thin white horizontal & vertical line to create different quadrants for the videos. I've made 4 independent video track for each of the video & for each of the individual tracks I used track motion to fit into a quadrant. I do this with the other 3 tracks & on the previewer everything looks great.

The problem I'm having is when I go to render the video & then review it with Windows Media Player or any other player for that matter. All the alignment is off, I'm way off on all 4 video from being in the correct position. I would go back into Vegas & use track motion the individual track to try to correct the problem. Once I've done that, on the previewer it looks like they're alignment is off, but once rendered it looks correct.

Do you have any suggestions as to how I can correct this problem?

Thank you in advance!! Happy New Year!!

We have captured some 60 hours of DV tape using Adobe Premier Pro CS3 for a doc project. We (2 different shooters), realized that our varied and inconsistently named TAPE NAMES that are part of the Meta Data when captured, are causing problems for our editor when we create EDLs (Editing Decision Lists for use in his AVID system)

Is it possible to easily, or globally RENAME our Original captured Tape Names encoded using Bridge or another solution???

We would be most appreciate of a answer or an idea.......hopefully a quick fix! Its 4+ years work on this documentary project...and counting!

 Thank you!

My problem seems to be only when I try to convert a project to a Windows Media File. I use the 2 pass VBR method. I get an error the Audio encoding failed and am told to try one pass or CBR (Constant Bit Rate). I try this but get the same message. I first encountered this issue a year ago and found the fix online but thought it was a one time issue so I did not record how I fixed it and now I have forgotten what I did to fix it. Adobe says they will no longer support Premiere Pro 2 and promptly ended the techsupport. Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated.
