OK, this may be a newbie question, but I am a newbie. I want to purchase a prosumer AVCHD cam and edit in Final Cut Express. I then want to be able to play my creation on my HDTV.

I have a Mac Pro tower, a PS3, high speed wireless and a Samsung 46" 750 240Hz (2009 series) LCD.

My goal is to shoot underwater video while diving, edit it, upload it to Vimeo/Youtube and enjoy my footage at home.

Thanks.

Hi,

I work at a resort that has a dedicated resort tv channel. Currently, we have a multi-disc dvd player that we loop our content on. I am looking to upgrade to a hard drive based recorder/player (like a regular DVR) that can hold at least 18 hours of video. Some other features i would like to have are:

some kind of computer interface to set up the programming schedules, etc.

ability to record from a dvd player

remote access/control (over the internet, or direct cable).

Any suggestions on what kind of equipment i should get? I'm familiar with video editing, but am new to the broadcasting side.

Thanks!

With the advent of Adobe's CS line of software (particularly After Effects and Premiere) they have been making a serious effort to place themselves on equal footing with giants like Avid and FCP. Now with the pending release of their new Mercury Playback Engine, Adobe's about to send a seismic level shockwave that the big boys better be paying attention to.

With the Mercury Playback Engine, Adobe Premiere will be able to finally take advantage of powerful off the shelf gamer GPU's and marry them with multi-core CPU's in a 64-bit OS! I could tell you how it looks, but it would ruin the surprise. Instead let Dave Henly show you what's coming down the pike. If it works like the demo everyone from newbies struggling to work with AVCHD to pro's struggling with 4k will be able to benefit! They say it's "to be included in a future release", but it damn well better be in CS5!

It is all exported & compressed for DVD together so why the disparity in playback? This is very rare but it bugs me, can anyone explain it?

Hello,

Please in advance forgive my total lack of knowledge regarding this product and poor terminology. I have Premiere Elements 8, and whenever I drag a clip onto a timeline, the playback on the large screen is all discoloured. However, when I double-click the clip in the Media folder, it plays fine in the preview window. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this. I have tried rendering the clip (manually, with background rendering disabled) and I also read somewhere that said to disable the GPU Playback, but nothing has worked so far. Rendering in fact makes it worse, and seems to freeze it up. If someone can help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated!

I am editing videos using Final Cut Pro v6, exporting them with video at 48KHZ, then transcoding them to flash using Squeeze; the audio is uncompressed. For some strange reason, when the videos are viewed on PCs, the sound doesn't play out of the PC Speaker. It only plays when you connect headphones or external speakers to the headphone jack. I can't figure out why. One thing I've noticed is that when I change the audio panning in FCP to '0,' I get no sound at all. Thanks for your advice.

Sorry if this is a basic question but I am new to this..

I want to record a video where the actors will talk and dance. I want to have playback for them to dance to but dont want the playback picked up by the mic used for the dialog, this will just be a condenser on a boom, or maybe just the cam mic. I will drop the final sound track in later.

Any helpful tips?

Thanks

I am using Ulead Studio 11.5. It was working fine, we would video tape our church service onto a VHS tape, I would use a capture device and then plug it into the Ulead program and edit with overlays and text. We started using a Panasonic AGHMC 70P with AVCHD onto a 16 gb pg sdhc card. I can capture off the card but when I put the video file into the timeline it will run slow and/or freeze. I have tried to change the settings for HD but cannot get the file to run in the time line so I can edit it. It will run in the library but not the timeline.Â

Now when I am using the old video camera/VHS tape the program will work but will take over 10 hours to burn an hour DVD.

NOTE: Working on a HP Pavillon/triple core processor with 2 or 3 gigs of ram.  My graphics card is reading a score of 3 (windows vista)....can this have anything to do with this problem?

Hi,

When I am working on a project, I sometimes need to open other applications, go to other folders or simply have a webpage up on my second monitor and read stuff while expecting PPro to keep playing. This was possible with PPro 2.0.

Now PPro CS3 stops playing the footage, be it in the source window or timeline, as soon as I click on something else.

Basically, no playback when PPro window is inactive... I am getting a bit annoyed as most of the time I need to play my footage in PPro while typing notes/script etc in another application.

Any ideas how to sort this out?

Thanks.

I have just started using Premiere Elements to edit an AVI file burned from a CCTV recording unit. When bringing the file into Premiere Elements the streamling is fine and the video plays throughout, however, after cutting down the AVI file and rendering, the video loses it's quality and the images freeze and move througout the playback. Also, the exported movie file does not streamline well, it stops and plays when using Windows Media Player for the playback on the video.

Can someone please help provide some setting options or resolutions?

Does anyone know of a player that will play both regular 8 mm analog and regular digital 8 mm tapes? I need one to move my stock footage to a computer hard drive or just play it. My digital 8 camera allows me to play both formats but I’ve realized when this camcorder fails I won’t be able to play my tapes. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've some captured video clips on my computer that play back fine using other programs but when I try to use Ulead V 7 the film plays so that faster movments appear as a sequence of fast shaddows catching up. If I burn a DVD it also then plays back with the same effect - it never used to happen, and I've made 20 or so DVDs without a problem - I also now have Adobe 6.5 Premier would this be conflicting - can anyone help ? Thanks.
