Ran across this vid from Robino Films showing how to use a long exposure photo as a matte to compensate for a dark scene when shooting with a DSLR Camera. By combining AFX and Photoshop you can make an undetectable foreground or background matte to add detail or scene details without a lot of difficulty. Check it out!

I read the article and it seems that as usual the inherent problem lay with human retardation, laziness and corruption. Build a city atop loose volcanic pumice and then not maintain or properly build a water system within the soil. When it rains and pipes burst, don't bother to go down and fix them, just hope 'it takes care of itself'. Why does it always take a big G-damned hole or a hemorrhaging 'Oil Volcano' disaster before we take a serious look at what we are doing? I am by no means a 'tree-hugger', but I happen to like having solid ground beneath me, air that I don't need to chew like jerky, water that won't stand a car up if you tossed it in and on occasion shrimp and oysters that don't taste like what I just cleaned out of my car's engine.

I like money too, but I also recognize that you can't breathe it, drink it or make it into a tasty and nutritious stew. Yet there are people out there running these outfits that are poisoning everything in the name of Mammon. I really don't want to have to spend my time hunting cats and keeping an eye out for my 'neighbors' who think I'd make a fine fricassee' like Denzel Washington had to in "The Book of Eli". But man, it just seems like there are hordes of folks who don't seem to have a problem with us heading down that path.

No idea on both questions. However, from the overhead view it looks like there might be a lava tube or cavern beneath that neighborhood. I speculate because it seems to 'go to black' too abruptly at the bottom of the hole. If that's the case, even a 'junk shot' wouldn't do jack to fill up that hole. Maybe we could get BP to spill oil in it!

Bob,

Not really. Even Grinner's 'Boobie' comment has relevance. People today are so desperate to be 'known' and the 'Net has 'Democratized' fame to a certain degree. I just saw how some jack-ass has gotten himself a book & television sitcom deal out of writing 118 little pearls of wisdom his old (literally) man says on Twitter. That's how it is now. We're between people wanting to be famous and the ones who become infamous like retarded (meaning someone who is supposed to be of full mental capacity but still does something stupid) Ashley who let a few million of her new 'friends' get a good look at what she has under the hood.

I find it hard to understand how anyone can be taken in by the Nigerian President's ex-wife who just has to get her personal fortune out of the country and "could you send me your bank details so I can transfer my money to it" or similar scams and yet some people DO fall for it.

"... hope I can get through to her before she gets her fingers burnt."

Bob,

To quote the 'Joker' in "The Dark Knight", "Wanna' know how I got these scars?" Without trying to 'fear monger' there have always been 'wacky' folks out there. For some reason though the 'Net has made a lot of them much worse. The dangerous thing about the 'Net is that retarded feeling of 'anonymity' people think they have. Social Networking sites are a novel idea and have their good points, but they do create a 'herd mentality'. Unfortunately, wherever there's a herd there are predators not far behind. At least in the States you hear about it more and more each day how people are being picked off by 'Net predators. Scams involving your info, identity theft, rapes (of females and males) and oft times murders (also indiscriminate of gender.) Many of such cases could have easily been prevented had the victim not put all of their personal info out there to be had.

Unfortunately, much of your personal info whether you have been diligent or not is out there anyway. All it takes is a dedicated search and sometimes just a little cash and you can find out all kinds of 'usable' info on a person.

Derek,

Whataya' say to that? Every possible comeback I could think of would be tagged as 'beyond politically incorrect!' I will say that there was a 'Meth Lab' understaffed at the time those characters made that flick!

Bob,

I just cannot comprehend how 'effin' retarded these people are these days. Okay, let's just say that by some magical means those candid snaps went only to her hubby. He's in a war zone and I can tell you from my own numerous deployments that sooner or later someone will get a hold of those pictures whether by accident or 'accidentally on purpose' and they'll get spread around! I've broken up fights because some yahoo got his hands on some sailor's naked wife/girlfriend photos. And cell phones back on the homefront have an annoying habit of 'walking off' on their own. On deployment, they don't tell you to keep your gear locked up for nothing.

I do like that one commercial where the cute & innocent 13-15 year-old girl is walking around town and all of those guys from teenagers to gray-beards are talking to her about her personal stuff (right down to her favorite panty color) to illustrate how your so-called 'private' info isn't. I guess 'Ashely' never saw that video.

Grinner,

I got to see my ex's boobies for the first time the old-fashioned way, I talked her into it. Nice idea for a Bumber Sticker though.

Are you sure that pun was unintentional??? Darn good one, anyway. It's bizarre really, did the lady think the picture would go STRAIGHT to her husband's phone, like two cans and a piece of string between them. It just goes to show that the so-called internet generation are not as computer-literate that they are given credit for. Timely warning though not timely enough for her.

With the influx of camera phones, social networking sites and a whole horde of other geeky crap that allows us to post our images online or send them via 'the magic satellite beams', one immutable law has come forth. 'Whatever goes on the 'Net Stays on the 'Net'. Hopefully all of the knuckleheads who 'lemming like' say to themselves, 'This will just be private between me and 'X'' Yeah 'X' meaning the 'unknown number' used in advanced mathematics. Here's yet another story of a young woman who 'Thought' (not necessarily the operative word) that a private photo sent to her deployed husband via an app on her iPhone would just be between them. She was wrong.

iPhone photo leaked to web

Bottom line (no pun intended) is; if you don't want to share something between you and the millions of 'huddled masses' (in front of their computers that is) DON'T PUT IT ONLINE OR SEND IT VIA CELL PHONE!

Here's a video by Vallette Thierry showing how to map a photograph to a 3D object and then simulating a camera move. This is a really cool technique if you're pulling your hair out trying to build virtual sets for greenscreen. Now I've seen a similar technique built in After Effects, but this one is pretty direct. Now I'm not sure what 3D program was used, but the technique should be fairly simple to duplicate in other programs. If you're too broke to shell out for a 3D program, you can get BLENDER for free.

While Premiere Pro will work with large still images many people that I have talked to who do it or have tried to do it seem to run into performance issues when working with larger images. So basically it can work with them but you many run into some frustration when trying to animate Pan & Zoom effects on them.

I would normally recommend using After Effects if you have it as you will normally have an easier time working with larger image formats there witha wider range of animation techniques available to you.

And for clarification there is no such thing as Premiere Pro 7. The work Pro wasn't added to the title of the software until it was relaunched with a new Version 1. The original Premiere was a very different program, in some ways better and in some not from the current Premiere Pro iterations.

I'm sorry you got the run around by Adobe. Previous to PP the old Premiere was limited to the size of the project frame. If you are zooming around the picture, do a little planning for the best picture quality. If you take a very large DSLR picture and size it for video, it will require sharpening. Let's say you wanted to pan across a picture you might want it to be 200% of the project frame size. If it is a SD project 720 x 540 then you'd size you picture to 1440 x 1080. PS standard setting for unsharp mask will be fine. If you are doing a HD 1080p project then you might not want to size your stills at all. I hope this helps. I don't pan arround on my stills very often anymore. You might want to try this in After Effects. I hope this helps. Gerry in Calgary.

OK I shall give it a try ...many thanks to all of you.

FYI I phoned Adobe and was passed around many times until I eventually reached technical support who did not have any idea about the spec for their own product. I say no more.

Thanks to you all.
