hey guys,

so I have some experience in video making but I want to get into it more buy purchasing a camcorder,

Â

so what I am looking for is a relitivley cheap camer $300-500ish that has a high quality picture (or HD)Â and can capture images that are going really fast (say 300fps or a paintball) well you get what i mean that it can capture fast moving objects and not blur. so basicly

Fast Shutter Speed

Manual Control

Image Stabilization

Large Zoom

Low Light Performance

Easy to Use

but mainly I just want to have a camera to make movies with my friends, not full length productions just a short 5-12 min videos for my school and such,Â

also what would be a good editing software to get that is easy for a beginner like me to get and how much it costs and where i can get it/ download it.

Â

Thanks for reading this and helping me out, like I said I am new to Video making so I am not sure if what I said is exactly industry speak / terms so? laugh if you want,

Â

but really thanks guys anything you say will help me out

Im in the market of buying a HD camcorder and have narrowed it down to 2 models in my budget, The canon HF20 or the HV30. My question is which model will capture better quality? (minii DV or SD card).....

I was told from a tech that the Mini DV's perform better in low light setting in noticeable quality vs SD card based. is that true?

Although i know SD Cards may be faster to upload and more efficient than the Older Tape Technology, im looking for the best quality to play home videos on my HDTV.

Thanks in Advance. -Richard

I have recently bought myself the Sony HVR-HD1000U video camera. My plan was to use a memory stick instead of tapes. So I order a SanDisk Video HD Memory Stick PRO Duo, however, I can only take pictures with it. It says it can hold 120 minutes worth of HD video. Is this card only capable of taking pictures? If so how can one take video from tape and put it on computer? I'm sorry if I'm not explaining the problem correctly, I'm new to these HD cameras.

Thank you,

Hello all.

I run a small business and want to produce an instructional DVD for marketing to my customer base on the web. Since I know my trade well but know very little about producing a DVD, I hunted around and found this forum. I have the idea all sorted out. The next step is to figure out the proper camera set up to get and what accessories I'll need to go with it. I guess what I'm looking at is getting a bunch of raw "film" together that I can bring to someone who can then edit it into the finished product. Unless, of course, this would be too expensive, in which case I'd have to figure a way to edit things myself. The production of the actual disc is still a hurdle also. I also have no idea how to forecast the demand for this because it's never been done in my area of expertise before. The market may welcome it with open arms.

In researching camcorders, it seems the number of variables is off the scale. Is digital better than film, and if so, why? I don't know what half the terms mean so I have to ask for help. The last thing I want to do is tie up a lot of capital in equipment that won't meet my needs or will not perform the way I'd like. I'd like a decent level of quality but I don't want to be George Lucas. That's not necessary. There will be some long shots, some close ups and I'd like to be able to add high res photos in certain spots of the process.

I have no idea how much capacity I'll need also. How do you judge how much has been recorded versus how much storage is left?

Lighting, storyboards, microphones, batteries, ease of use in handling and transferring all the info that's filmed along with how to polish the look are all subjects I'm interested in exploring.

Any feedback you can offer to a total noob would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

MaverickÂ
