Unfortunately, HD cameras eat light. There might be some mode changes that you can make while shooting in low-light that may redeem at least some future shoots-things like decreasing shutter speed make a huge difference.

You can try a tool like iZotope RX at http://izotope.com/products/audio/rx/ but your problem is going to be that the voices of the people talking are in the same frequency range as that of the concert performers and when you reduce one, you reduce the other. Next time, try to get a feed from the sound board and mix this with the live sound you record separately.

Hello,

I am completely new to video editing, and I started by buying a panasonic sd 90 which was what my current budget would allow me (+ batteries sd cards tripods etc).

Before purchasing I read some reviews (all where good to excellent) and I researched some sample videos online, all of which looked pretty good for a cam of this budget.

Now that I use it though, have noticed that the camera produces allot of noise, even in bright light- which is not very visible after the video is compressed, so I did not notice on the samples I watched online. Videos taken after dark, even in relatively well lit environments (such as bussy bar streets) are pretty useless. Is this normal for such a camera? I am bluffed because I thought it would produce at least decent videos.

Thanks allotÃ?Â

The best noise and blur reduction tool I have seen is Neat Video (http://www.neatvideo.com/index.html) Its very powerful, but I'm afraid you cannot used it with your NLE. If you change to another NLE such as Premiere or Vegas this is a tool you should have on your arsenal.

It's just blurred around the edges? Not in the middle of the image? Perhaps you could embed a video or give us a link so we can see what you mean. I haven't seen a camcorder do what you're describing (unless you intentionally want it to with lenses, etc.) so that leads me to believe it's your software, but I'd like to see a sample before I make that my "final answer." ;)

Hey you guys.I am new to this so be forgiving if my questions sound a bit strange.I create online property videos for Real Estate agents but my videos come out a bit blurred around the edges and have a bit af noise.I use a Panasonic SDR-S26 camcorder with Avs video editor software for editing. After creating the video I then ad this to Xvid4psp5.0 to enhance the colour. Is ti just the quality of my camcorder that causes the blurred image or is it my software?I was thinking to invest into a HD camcorder to eliminate the blurring and noise indoors.Any help or advice will be much apreciated.I have a few samples on my website at http://www.promedia.tv

Audacity is great entry-level free pro software that has a Noise Removal tool.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

If you are trying to record location sound and avoid background noise, you may want to look into getting an external microphone. This won't be too hard (other than finding a good mic) if your camcorder has a mic input. Otherwise, try and use Audacity's tool - it's actually a great tool for filtering sound from unwanted noise.

Any Non-linear editor (NLE) will allow you to seperate audio from the video and replace it with a "cleaned" version.

I use Sony Vegas Pro and it has some very nice audio tools built in (no need to process externally for most things - In fact, all audio tracks get EQ, Compression and Noise Gate filters by default) - It also integrates very well with Sound Forge for more advanced options.

That said, I still think the best audio tool I have seen is Adobe Audition (not Soundbooth). It has some very powerful tools (like visual auidio editing) but seems to be very advanced (read tough to learn).

HI,

My wife shot some video on a JVC camcorder. The file has a lot of background noise, which I want to remove. I have Pro Tools, for music recording/editing, which I have used to do such work, by using the EQ and noisegates.

Does anyone know of any video software that I can get to edit the audio from the video file? (MPEG) Or is there software I can use to remove the audio from the file, clean it up in Pro Tools and then synch back up to the video?

Thanks for your help.

I never thought to check the codec used. I always do final output in Xvid, so I did a sample in Lagarith - same click. 2 different machines, one with onboard sound, one with USB headset.

BUT --- I discovered that the FIRST render after I launch Vegas has NO CLICK. All of the following renders have the click. See samples on YouTube:

First render - no click:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzygOtZ77hM

2nd and all later renders - CLICK (pop?):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfUbpmuBOAo

SO......I suppose the easy fix is restart Vegas and render the file.

Are you using an internal sound card or an external USB/FW sound interface? I'd say update your drivers and make sure nothing else is trying to use your sound card. If using an external box, make VERY sure that it's going right to the mobo and not through a hub, or if it's in a FireWire chain, that there's nothing else connected to the same port. Also, if you have not done so, turn off system sounds in Control Panel. I've had wierd things like that happen to sound files in Audition but the problem went away after I added more RAM. Just some thoughts.

I have a video all set up, and sometimes when I render it I get a 'pop' or 'click' sound right as the file starts. This happens with many different videos. Or I can just load a video, select it and render it. CLICK/Pop.

In Vegas there is NO SOUND at that point in the audio track. I can mute the audio entirely and it is STILL there.

If I mute the VIDEO track, the sound is usually reduced. I say usually because I can render the file several times, using EXACT same seetings and area selected to render, and get different results. It happens even if I render, then re-render with a different output name. The files will have differences at the beginning.

When the sound appears - it never goes away simply by more renders.

I have tried this on two machines (both running WinXP - Home & Pro).

It's very frustrating. Please HELP!!!!!!!!

in the graphic equalizer, there is a number 4 located near the left side of the graphic interface. It is near the bass end of the spectrum. Click it and drag it under the centerline. The further down the more bass you take out, more left the deeper the bass, more to the right and you reduce higher frequencies.

Select the plug-in chooser for the track that has too much bass. That should open a window showing the plug-ins currently in the chain - typically a Gate, a Compressor, and an EQ. Select the EQ plug-in and adjust the sound to taste.

I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 8.0. I have a video with lots of bass and I want to reduce it. When I click right-click on the audio and go to audio editing software, it says 'No audio editing software assigned to Sony Vegas' or something like that. What can I do to reduce the bass?

 Thanks in Advance
