I'm looking for a video camera and lens setup that will allow me to get the best HD video possible while shooting specifically small screens from a close distance. 1080p is a requirement and again I am looking for best quality but not forgetting best value if possible. I would like to keep it under $3,000USD. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am new to all of this.

Thanks,

Meet the XQD Memory Card. Works with Nikon D4!

A few days ago The Compact Flash Association announced a new format
to replace CF cards for professional photographers, and HDLSR
filmmakers. The new format is called XQD, and has a physical size
that falls between CF and SD cards (it is thicker than SD cards, but
smaller than CF cards). The interface used is PCI Express, with real
world write speeds around 125MB/s, eventually being able to exceed 2
terabytes of capacity!

Here's short film we did with a Nikon D5000. It's really random, but it looks sort of cool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQvkVgdY350

HDSLR's are quite good for what you spend. I was quite impressed by the quality from a sub-$1000 camera.

Normally I post stuff shot by professional shooters. Every now and then an ammy or intermediate gets my attention and I think their work is definitely worth a look. "Keira in the Park" is typical of what the average VM hobbyist is trying to shoot, home movies of the kids. Using a Nikon D90 filmmaker and Keira's father Trin has made quite the cute little film with the help of some advanced techniques using both steadycam and dolly rigs. Let me know what you think.

My 6 year old rushed in to the room while i was transfering images from my nikon d90 he tripped on the usbwire sending the camera on a flight of its life time, just like the mars patfinder it bounced as in slow motion and the lens split from the body upon the third "bounce" never to be firmly attached again :(

a tiny sliver of a plastic that holds the lens in place , chipped off

the camera works when the lens if firmly held in place but the moment u take away your hand .. it falls off .

it has been a sad day in the house today ;) ... he said .. oops , sorry papa ... " you wanna play wii with me ?" :) ...

any idea if plastic bits off of lenses get repaired ?

in my case its the kit lens (18-105) that comes with the d90

On Nikon's website for the DSLR D300S they show a D-movie by Robert Bosch that I found interesting. It's listed under D-movie Productions on the product page. I like how the video was made. Particularly the mountain biking segment where there is live action, then still photos, then they zoomed up on the still photos.

How do you do that? Is this a professional technique that would be beyond my reach as a beginner or is there software that would help me overcome the difficulty of creating something like this. I would love to be able to apply this kind of video to some projects I want to make. Can someone explain this to me and/or point me in the right direction for more info? Thanks.

 Hi all,

Here's a short piece I did when it snowed recently in my area. Shot on a Canon XHA1 using the Letus Extreme 35mm adapter and, for the movement, I used an IndiSlider (available from Indifocus.com)
