A bit of background I am using Mac 10.7.2 and Adobe Premier 5. Shot my media on a JVC GY-HM100U and it was ingested by copying the whole folder into my computer. My video is 1080 60i the .xml file says:</p> <p>dataFormat="xdvb" </p> <p>videoCodec="MPEG2_VBR35M_1920_1080_60I_MP@HL" ch="STEREO_2CH" </p> <p>audioCodec="LPCM16_48K"</p> <p>Neither Premier nor imovie can't open the media and the error I get is that the codec is missing. I tried to convert my media using the Video Converter by iSkysoft but the quality decreased exponentially. I also tried Calibrated{Q} XD Decode, but it won't play in real time in Premier and looks choppy. </p> <p>Went and downloaded the JVC HD pro clip manager but ironically it doesn't recognize the media either and the error is that is not a m4p file. JVC site and other reviews say that there is no need to wrap or transcode and the media formats are compatible with Mac which is false or I am missing something.</p> <p>Does anyone have any advice how to get around this issue? Is there a way to keep it at this quality? We aren't sure which options we should choose when rendering in Sony Vegas--we think MPEG2. But we tried that and then we burned it (with Windows DVD Maker) and the video was squished horizontally. The so called thumbnail-view layout, which I first saw in ACDSEE classic, is nowadays a most common user interface standard.</p> <p>Thumbnail-view is not the only strong point that ACDSEE holds. <br />ACDSEE is still the best when the image browsing speed is measured. That's why I am still using ACDSEE as my picture browser, although the Windows now can do it natively(but slowly). This shows, there is always a chance to survive for an unique technology, like the image browsing speed of ACDSEE.</p> <p>On the contrary, when we turn to the speed of video browsing, ACDSEE falls into the common category of DirectShow filter based applications. I'm using the standard MPEG 2 DVD when exporting my movie (which is made up of PNGs 1024 x 576), the problem is its just compressing my movie way too much. <br />Even when I shrink down a single PNG image to 720 by 405 they still don't look as bad as when converted to MPEG format.
