16-bit 48khz is pretty standard when it comes to audio for video.

Your wrapper is dependent on your software. For example, FCP prefers .aiff

Quick survey.... When you import audio into a video project, what format(s) do you prefer?

Typical project: eg. wedding video, corporate presentation, etc.
Audio content: eg. music, voice, sound FX, etc.
File type: eg. WAV / AIF / MP3, etc.
Sample rate: eg. 44.1khz, 48khz, etc.
Channels: eg. Mono / Stereo / Surround, etc.
Resolution: eg. 8-bit, 16-bit, etc.

Obviously, this varies hugely from project to project. So, consider the question for the most regular type of video work you do - a 'typical' project.

Today is August 4/10, and I just wanted to let you know that I've completely changed my website.

I am now selling my royalty-free music as one 21-track collection (.zip file) priced at only...wait for it...$19.95 USD!

The songs are now in WAV file format, which I am told is much easier to work with

in video editing programs.

Full demos on the site ( http://www.worldstagemusic.net ).

I can't say for how much longer I will be able to offer anything, as Internet hosting fees are starting to get me, and I may have to take my site down altogether soon enough.

So come take advantage of my situation, while my site still exists.

Even though it's hard to tell honesty from a slick ploy on the Internet, I assure you it's the truth. I can't make you believe me.

In any case, 21 tracks of music that you can use forever, for $19.95, is far from being a rip-off. If my site keeps going past October, it will be due to your kind purchases and your help in spreading the word. Or some other miracle!

Best,

Sean C.

Oh heck! I forgot to answer pseudosafari's other question:

The piano on those tracks is from a Jv-80 synth. It's a sample of a real piano, though the JV-80 was made in the early 1990s, and so is a child of that decade's technology.

However I also do some "producing" to give it a nicer, warmer sound.

I'm in!

I tried to log in a few times but my old PW wasn't working, but I finally made it in!

Apologies for not responding sooner. I know this sounds jaded, but it's so rare that I get reponses on this cold-blooded thing we call the Internet, that I just never bothered to check in again.

Thank you both for your encouraging & positive comments. Dare I quote poor old Sally Field: ("you like me! you really really"...oh forget it).

@pseudosafari: I think I understand what you mean...I assume you mean that if you play one demo track, and then don't turn it off and start another demo track on the same page, that the first one will keep playing and not shut off automatically, right? I just have to learn some more about html programming to fix that, I suppose. Now I'll paraphrase Dr. McCoy from Star Trek: "I'm a composer, Jim, not a programmer!"

@EarlC - I sincerely appreciate your encouragement. I've added a few more tunes/categories, though of course the song selection is small:

I've added a "Folk Latin" category, but I'd like to mention my "Belly Dancing" category, only because it has a song I'm proud of, because it's a mix of Urban Pop with spice exotic elements. Hope you'll check it out! The song is called "Secrets of the Far East".

Oh, and I can't leave without mentioning another song called "Cabin Party" in the Pop section, which is like a Motown/B52s inspired thing.

I'm starting to think that perhaps I should ask people to join a mailing list so I can tell them about new songs/categories as I add them...what do you think?

All the best,

Interesting initial offerings. Some of it has solid potential. Some of it sounds very similar to other libraries I purchase from - Music2Hues, Music Bakery, Best of Themes, Energetic Music...

I can see your library, and popularity, growing quickly provided you can rapidly implement more and broader choices, with some significant differences in tempo and flavor.

I liked what I heard! Especially the piano music. Is that a real piano or a digital composition? (It sure sounds real!)

FYI don't play both piano selections simultaeously. ;)

No sign-up required. Just browse the music, find what you like, pay (through paypal), and download.

No questions asked. No "would you like to be part of our mailing list?"

I assume if you like the music, you'll be back.

This is a small site run by one composer: me. Selection is admittedly small at the moment,
but the whole idea behind the site is to make it as hassle-free to
license music as possible. Prices are affordable, within $18-$30 range.

I don't like hassles any more than you do. Song are sold as 320 kbps mp3 files. I assume you know how to convert mp3s into wavs, if your video software requires it, and edit music lengths to suit your needs. If you don't know how, I assume you're smart enough to google it and find out how.

Today is May 20th, 2010. To anyone reading this many moons from now, who knows if the site will change, but this is my policy at the moment.

Best of luck in all your endeavours!

Convert the files with a free program called Super. You need to convert them to DV-AVI and you will be fine. There is lots of information about using XVid files in Premiere over at the Premiere User to User forums and at Muvipix.com

So I got an old copy of CS2 from a friend who has CS4 now, and I'm having a problem importing clips. I've seen plenty of topics on the web about issues with mpeg files or ac3 audio, but none about this problem:

If the video I import is .wmv (i.e. wma audio), I have no problems. However, I want to use some .avi files I have. The avi files use xvid/mp3 for the video and audio. When I import them into premier, they import as 'video' (video stream only) instead of 'movie' (video AND audio stream). Like I said, wmv files have no problem (import as 'movie'). When I check the properties for the avi files inside premier, it shows that they have a video track and an audio track, but premier seems to ignore it. Importing an mp3 file works fine, too, so it's not the codec or anything (I have CCCP installed). Now obviously I could convert the files to wmv and I'd have no problems, but I don't see a reason to do so since I personally prefer xvid-avi and I don't really want to have two copies of the same file (I have the avi files archived for my use).

Does premier 2 not support mp3 audio streams in video clips, or is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong or...?

System: Windows 7 64-bit beta1, 2GB RAM, core2 duo E4500 (2.2GHz), geforce 8800GTS 320MB, ONLY Premier Pro 2.0 and After Effects were installed from CS2.

Thank you Brandon!! On my other post with your answer I thanked you all over the place!! You are a life saver!! Could you tell me though two things about the program: 1. After the 30 days will the file converter tool be left in use? 2. And all my MP3 file icons turned to the Windows Media Player icon, why? If you can answer, thanks ahead of time! Barbara

Before I answer, let me make sure of a couple things:

1. Are you exporting a video in MPEG4 then putting that into the conversion software?
2. Or are you exporting just the audio line of the video as some random audio format like PCM,WAV,etc?

In answer to your question regarding all of your MP3 icons changing to Windows Media...

Just follow these instructions to change it back to what ever it was before.

Open a folder
-> Click "TOOLS"
-> Click "FOLDER OPTIONS"
-> Click "FILE TYPE" tab
-> Scroll down the list till you see MP3.
-> Hightlight it and click change (to change the program associated with that file type).
-> Then click okay and that's pretty much it.

Regarding the 30 day trial...

The audio file conversion still works after the 30 day as do most of the basic normal functions. Since I think you are converting a video file to extract the audio, I'm not sure about that functionality. I've never tried that before.

THe advanced features cease to workafter the 30 days. But I'm not sure if that is considered an advanced feature.

Hope this helps.

Is there an "export" option under the File menu? I would imagine you should be able to convert/export as quicktime and then adjust options in a dialogue box to get an aiff or wav. That's how I'd do it with Final Cut.

That's the best I can do, I'm not familiar with Pinnacle. Sorry.

Sorry, for dup post in Prod Tech didn't see this category.Â

I have Pinnacle 10.6 which does not have an option to save as MP3 file, but of course 12 does. I made a nature sound audio, but can not burn as CD audio or MP3 file.

Pinnacle Live Chat told me to save as MPEG2, and to look online for a free MP3 converter. Is this correct? If so, does anyone know of a good free MP3 converter? I have spent so much time on trying to make this work. Help!

My options under save as File Types are:

AVI, DiVX, iPOD Compatible, MPEG-1 2 and 4, Real Media, Sony PSP Compatible, Windows Media.

I don't have AIFF or WAV. So, what do you suggest?

Thank you ahead of time for anyone's help. Barbara

If all you want is the audio, I would save the audio as AIFF or WAV. If you still need an mp3, you can covert in iTunes.Â
